about

The bulk of The Seclusion Solution arose from a lengthy introspective period beginning in 2016, but with some work dating back as far as 2002. Neil McCarthy composed, arranged, and wrote all the tracks on the album, expect for “Corroborating Witness”, which was co-written with guitarist Chris Paquette, and the final track, “The Star-Spangled Banner”.

All songs feature Neil on the alto saxophone with his effects gear. Neil also provides the keyboard and synthesizer sound effects, plus occasional acoustic bell sounds. All live drums were performed by Joe Mignosa. Aaron McQuade added electric bass on "Good Things Come" and "Here, There, and Rosemary," while Robert Rabinowitz provided electronic drums on "Try to Breathe". Chris Paquette played the guitar on "Corroborating Witness."

The Seclusion Solution relies heavily on arrangement, but within each arrangement, strong elements of free jazz and psychedelic styles. This album intends to stretch listeners’ ears to detect a variety of genres not often combined.

Listeners will find a mixture of many different musical varieties on this album, including marching band, rock, psychedelic rock, jazz, art rock, electronic, classical, and even world music (such as Middle Eastern). And with any luck, listeners might find joy or inspiration in the unexpected and unique mixture of sounds and textures on this album.
